Another cause for rejoicing this fall is that Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata the magic duo is back with us again. After Death Note and Bakuman, finally, Platinum End is also entering the big screen. Get ready for some quality stuff.

It’s also worth mentioning Takeshi Obata will start a new manga series titled “Shoha Shoten” in the upcoming Jump SQ issue 11/2021. 7. World Trigger 3rd Season

  • English: World Trigger 3rd Season
  • Release Date: October 9, 2021
  • Studio: Toei Animation
  • Genre: Sci-Fi, Adventure

I put World Trigger 2nd Season in our 15 New Winter 2021 Animes You Should Be Watching Right Now list and I am putting it again in our fall 2021 list. I think it deserves much more attention and credit than it is getting in this shounen era.

Just go watch it. It’s a pure shounen.

Story: One day, a gate to another world suddenly opens in Mikado City. Aliens invincible to Earth’s weapons, called “Neighbors”, start coming over. Earth’s only line of defense is a mysterious group called the “Border” who are armed with weapons called “Triggers”.

Four years later, the city has recovered from initial attacks, and citizens of Mikado City have started to get use to the Neighbor’s attacks. Yuma Kuga, a transfer student, and his classmate Osamu Mikumo find themselves fighting a Neighbor that suddenly appears. Osamu, who is actually a Border agent, activates his Trigger but is unable to defeat it. This leaves Yuma to activate his own Trigger and defeat the alien. Yuma reveals that he is not part of Border and is actually a Neighbor who has transferred from the other side.

6. 86: Eighty-Six 2nd Season

  • English: 86: Eighty-Six 2nd Season
  • Release Date: Oct 2021
  • Studio: A-1 Pictures
  • Genre: Action, Military

86 was one of the best anime I watched this year. It was great. To be honest, I never thought I would find a random anime that could impress me so much this season but I’m glad it did. It’s by no means a ‘S’ tier anime or something like that but it has something of a unique feel attached to it. A feel of emptiness, a feel of being free, a feel of being trapped, a feel of depression, and finally a feel of loneliness that truly sit right with the moment I watched it.And the music!! Oh boy!! I should have known it was Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto (the same duo who handled the composition of the Attack on Titan The Final Season) who did the composition for the show. They should really deserve a mention. The OSTs were synchronized so well with the show’s momentum that it gave the show’s feel an extra boost.

Story: Called “Juggernaut,” these are the unmanned combat drones developed by the Republic of San Magnolia in answer to the attacks by the autonomous unmanned drones of the neighboring Empire of Giad, the “Legion”. But they’re only unmanned in name. In reality, they are piloted by the Eighty-sixers—those considered to be less than human and treated as mere tools.

Determined to achieve his own mysterious ends, Shin, the captain of Spearhead Squadron, which is comprised of Eighty-Sixers, continues to fight a hopeless war on a battlefield where only death awaits him.

5. Saihate no Paladin

  • English: The Faraway Paladin
  • Release Date: October 9, 2021
  • Studio: Children’s Playground Entertainment
  • Genre: Fantasy

Another Shōsetsuka ni Narō, another fantasy but trust me it’s different. It’s incarnated but everything about is almost different from other works you’ve seen from the same publishing house.

If you like adventure, if you like the concept of an overwhelming worldview and have a fascination for the stories that go on with the efforts of the surroundings and the hero then you definitely need to add this to your fall 2021 watch list. It’s gonna be amazing for sure. Although it’s a bit concerning considering the fact Children’s Playground Entertainment is handling series but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping for the best.

Story: In a city of the dead, long since ruined and far from human civilization, lives a single human child. His name is Will, and he’s being raised by three undead: the hearty skeletal warrior, Blood; the graceful mummified priestess, Mary; and the crotchety spectral sorcerer, Gus. The three pour love into the boy and teach him all they know. But one day, Will starts to wonder: “Who am I?” Will must unravel the mysteries of this faraway dead man’s land, and unearth the secret pasts of the undead. He must learn the love and mercy of the good gods, and the bigotry and madness of the bad. And when he knows it all, the boy will take his first step on the path to becoming a Paladin. “I promised you. It’s gonna take a while, but I’ll tell you everything. This is the story of the deaths of many heroes. It’s the story of how we died, and it’s the reason you grew up here.”

4. Rupan Sansei Paato Shikkusu

  • English: Lupin the Third Part 6
  • Release Date: October 10, 2021
  • Studio: TMS Entertainment
  • Genre: Action, Comedy

It has been almost six decades and Lupin’s popularity hasn’t gone down a least. In a survey conducted by Tokyo Polytechnic University in 2010, 42.6% Males in Their Twenties, 44% Males in Their Thirties, 46% Males in Their Forties, 45% Females in Their Twenties, and finally 36% Females in Their Thirties named Lupin III franchise as a part of ‘Cool Japan.’ In addition, when Tsutaya, Japan’s largest video rental chain, published their first-ever list of ‘top anime series of all time ’, where 200,000 people of multiple age groups participated in and voted for their favorite anime, Lupin III came out in second.

Even though we, the people in the international community can’t feel a thing about Lupin III as a whole, in Japan it’s one of the cultural highlights of the calendar. Every season is like a festival among the fans. So I think it’s about time we take part in that too by making Lupin the Third Part 6 a massive hit from our end.

Story: Gentleman thief Lupin III is back and ready for his next caper— unless legendary sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, has anything to say about it! When Holmes’ longtime partner, Dr. Watson, is murdered, none other than Lupin tops the suspects list. With Holmes fast closing in, Lupin must prove his innocence and bring a shadowy organization called The Raven to heel if he wants to live to steal another day.
